Telling a story about wine totaly different and therefore making ""wine history"" is what has driven us when we started experimenting with our best wines 10 years ago. Year after year we have kept a small part of our Wendelin Prophet and stored it in barrique barrels until we put together the 10 iterations of this masterclass cuvée consisting of Zweigelt, Merlot and Syrah. As we concluded this experiment in the hot summer of 2013 with adding the last iteration we knew, we created the Prophet of the decade. A whole decade of wine comprised in one bottle: a phenomenon in austrian wine making.
With the Joe Big we apparently reached new heights in terms of taste and quality.
This is also signalised by its color: a extremely deep and saturated purpur-lilac. This masterclass wine with his enormous power and tannins needs some time to breath. His flavour is so rich and has so many elements and facettes that it is hard to grasp every nouance. As soon as you taste the first aroma another one pops up and surprises you, creating a game of deception sip by sip. With his depth and structure the Joe Big creates a sensational perception of taste and fathoming it is a terrific adventure. Once you've explored the aroma of dark wild berries and the pepper a scent of truffle with a hint of smokey wood rushes by, followed by cardamom and cloves, licorice and a pinch of cumin, finalized by traces of tea, fine wood, Dominican tabacco, gingerbread, malt and caramel creeping out of the depths of this supercuvée.
